Paddy Hanlon from Cooley reached the final of the National Singles were he plays Alan Paul from Cookstown. Paddy hopes to be the 3rd winner from Oriel in the last 6 years and hopefully retain the title for Oriel which Gerry McCabe won last year. Paddy could not have dreamed of a tougher draw in the 1st round were he faced Irish skip Raymond Stubbs. In the end he managed to beat Raymond 9-4. He then faced one of the most in-form players in Ireland and former zone member Sean Conroy Snr which he manged to beat 10-3. He won hs next two games comfortably and then faced Gerard Mohan from Clontibret in the semi-finals. He started off badly going 4-0 down but in the end ran out 10-6 winners. Congratulations Paddy and best wishes in the final. |
