With many top pair through in the finals night the question was who would come out on top. Could be one of the young guns or the older brigade? In the Quarter Finals John Boyle and John Duffy had a somewhat surprise win over Kevin Conroy and Briege Duffy winning on the last end. It was the same case with both Brendan Magennis & Sean Rooney's victory over Jason and Shane Hand. The biggest suprise came when Oliver mc Guinness & Michael Herron beat Seamus mc Parland and Stephen Mc Mahon. Pat Garvey and John mc Cann had a comfortable win over Emma Colgan & Niall Hand. Noticable about all these wins was the exit of all the young guns.  In the semi's Brendan Magennis stepped up his game and beat John Duffy and John Boyle who could not repeat there 1st game form. Oliver Mc Guinness and Michael Herron got the better of Pat Garvey and John mc Cann on the last end and contunued their remarkable form.  With the prospect.of an exciting final looming we all took our seats only to be disappointed. Brendan Magennis and Sean Rooney taking 4 in the first end .With Sean leading brilliantly they took another 3 and 4 over a very nervous Mc Guinness and Herron and the game was way out of reach by the 7th end when they retired Overall a very succesful tournament and we thank everybody who took part  |
