After last year’s demoralising defeat by Armagh in the quarter-final, the question on everyone’s mind going into the game was “Could they put it behind them and strive to regain their form that took them all the way to the title in 2007”.

The selectors knew that new faces were needed to freshen up the team and that’s exactly what happened with the introduction of four new players; Maureen Conlon, Louise Duff, Tracey Martin and Marion Martin. They also finally moved Michelle Martin into skip (in most people’s eyes 2 years overdue).

Unfortunately in the last round East Belfast could not field a team so the ladies had only a practice night to judge who gelled with whom.

Redeemer Singles is one of the tournaments that all Oriel players strive to win. From the days of Kieran Campbell coming out victorious to later years were Paul Duff and Gerry Crosby were winners, one thing never changed, it was always one of the toughest finals night's to call and this was year was no exception.
