With the National Junior title currently residing in the Hand household for the last two seasons could anyone from Oriel knock them off their perch?
 |
1st Round Report
The tie of the first round was undoubtably the 2010 champion Shane Hand versus one of Oriels hidden gems in Calum Cummiskey. Calum began brightly and raced into an early lead and never let Shane get settled beating him with two ends to spare. Niall Hand had a tough contest against Lauren Caldwell only winning in the last end. Shawna and Aimee both won beating D Ward and Allana Long respectively.

Quarter-Final Report:
Philip Mackin who reached the National Pairs final last season knew he had to take his "A" Game to beat the current holder Niall Hand. He raced into a 6-1 and while Niall fought back the lead was too great and the stranglehold the Hands had on the junior titles was over. Aimee surprisingly lost to Eugene Russell. Eugene who only started bowls this season has come on leaps and bounds and maybe a player to look out for in future years. Calum continued his relentless form this time only dropping one shot against Shawna Hanlon. Sarah McEnaney had a good victory over Michael Rodgers

Semi-Final Report (Last Game of the Day):
Calum continued the form he showed all night again winning comfortably against Sarah McEnaney. Philip Mackin’s game was slightly closer against Eugene Russell but Philip's experience came out in the end. We now have an all Cullyhaana Junior final. |
