With some strong Ladies triples on show, hopes were high that Oriel could final lift the Ladies Triples title. The nights bowling was a tail of surprises that nobody could predict (especially me)
Â
Â
1st Round Patricia Hanlon playing with Shawna Hanlon and Margaret Carrol had a last end victory over the difficult Gwen Dunne. Gabriele McArdle looked like a comfortable winner but with an end to spare Menina Birch picked up a maximum 6 shots to take an 8-7 lead going into the last. Gabriele had to dig deap and use all of her experience to pick up 2 shots and win 9-8. The surprise of the round came when Maureen Nugent beat Gill Rouillier from Killanny by 3 shots. The final match between Carol McMahon and Rosie McGee was the hardest to call, and with an end to go Rosie was 1 shot up. It took Carol's last bowl to finally beat the Redeemer triple. |

Quarter Final
The biggest shock of the night came when the triple of Bernie Sexton, Peggy McPharland and Vera Mohan beat one of the favourites, in many people’s eyes (mine included), of Emma Colgan, Sadie Larkin and Rachel Brennan. The Whitecross trip outplayed the Corduff trip from start to finish and won with an end to spare. Mary O'Hare playing in the Ladies trips for the first time (with Donna Conroy and Noreen Smith) began well with a whitewash victory over Anne Maguire. Carol McMahon beat her 3rd for the Zone in Gabriele McArdle with an end to go. Finally Maureen Nugent's run came to an end losing to local heroes Patricia Hanlon.

Semi Final (Last Game of the Night)
Vera Mohan continued were she left off by easily beating Mary O'Hare with an end to go and reach the finals night in January. Here she will play Patricia Hanlon who had really close contest with Carol McMahon for 6 ends. The difference maker came in the 7th end when Patricia picked up a count of 5 shots. Congratulations must go to young Shawna Hanlon who qualified for the first time ever.
