The Over 55's Championships are generally very hard to predict and last night had no exceptions. We witnessed some major shocks early on, some devastating form from some former winners and one incredible last bowl victory.
2nd Round Report The biggest shock of the night fell in this round, when former winners, Carol and John McMahon, were knocked out by T Bannon from Collon. Pat Cunningham beat his golfing partner Tom Duffy and Kevin Boyle had a great win against Sean Daly. Brendan McCabe beat Billy Taaffe's conqueror P Hamill and Peter Byrne had a fantastic victory over Sean Conlon. Damien Taaffe beat Eamon Bennett and Oliver Donaldson beat Bridge Duffy to setup a tie against Peter Byrne. Â
Quarter-Final (Last Game of the Night) Repor: Oliver Donaldson and Tom Rushe were fantastic from the beginning of the night to the end, this time beating Brendan McCabe with 2 ends to spare. In the semi's they will face Fra Dillon and Damien Taaffe who had a great victory themselves over Gabriele McArdle. In the top half of the draw Paul Carey and L Weldon beat Pat and Bernie Cunningham and will now face Seamus Malone and T McGuiness who knocked out Gerry Goss from Geraldines. |
