Hopes were high that Oriel would become the first team ever to win the title for 3 straight years, however how would the losses of Jason Hand, Dean McDonagh, Niall Martin and Cathal McPharland affect them.

Both Niall and Philip won with ease and always had a comfortable lead. Meanwhile Calum was struggling and never settled down into his normal rhythm. In the opening stages Calum was very unfortunate with several running shots, missing the head by the narrowest of margins. Shots began to build up and suddenly he found himself trailing 8-1. When most would bow down and give up, Calum battled bravely to pick up shots in 3 consecutive ends, which brought some hope to Calum's rink and also to Oriel. That was a massive boost to leave them behind by only 2 shots, 8-6. In the second last end, Calum dropped 1 shot to leave himself 9-6 down playing the last end. With wonderful drawing bowls from lead to skip they gained 2 shots and were looking for the 3rd shot which was left for the umpire to decide. They missed out narrowly and they were defeated 9-8, but by no means was it a poor encounter.

Both Calum and Philip won comfortably but Niall’s game was far from easy. Niall made a disastrous start against Armagh. In the first end Niall had 3 shots against him and fired and took 3 of his own bowls out leaving a simple draw for 6 shots. Niall dropped another single in the 2nd end to leave him puzzled and shocked at 7-0 down. His rink needed to knuckle down. As Oriel’s lead to third upped their game it left the Armagh skip under pressure with 4 shots down on the mat. He managed to draw within inches of the jack with his first to lie 1 shot. Niall played a wonderful running shot to chop the bowl out and sat for 4 shots. Niall failed to capitalise with his second but the score board now showed 7-4 after 3 ends. In the 4th end Shauna played an extraordinary drawing bowl which proved to be impossible to remove and in the following end Connor and Shauna combined for an extra 2 shots with Eugene having the back covered and Niall blocked Trainor from firing. Niall was now back to 7-7. Armagh gained 1 shot after a measure. In the 7th end, Shauna was under massive pressure delivering her first bowl with 3 against her. Once again Shauna played a remarkable bowl to take the jack right back to Oriel’s back bowls, leaving Niall an easy draw for 3 shots. Niall's rink broke in front for the first time in the game at 10-8. As the next 4 shots were evenly separated over the next 2 ends it left Oriel 2 shots clear playing the last end, 12-10. Oriel gave an exhibition of drawing bowls in the last end forcing Armagh to burn the jack twice as Oriel were lying a 4 and a 3, before Armagh called it a day when  Calum won in superior fashion at 18-0, Philip having a comfortable win at 14-9 and Niall scrapping a 12-10 win.
