Gills rink began slowly on what was an extremely difficult mat. They could never settle and after 4 ends were 7-1 down. Emma's game was nip and tuck after 4 ends with the score at 4 apiece. Bernie's match was also extremely tight at 4-5 down after. Emma’s rink sprung into life at the half way stage after some incredible bowls by the in-form Patricia Hanlon. They ended up pulling away from her Mid-Ulster counterparts after picking up a count of 3 and in the end won her game comfortably 11-7. Not a bad debut as skip on a tricky mat for Emma! Bernie's match was tight throughout and she eventually came out on top 9-8. Unfortunately Gill's score went from bad to worse and everything they tried failed to come off, losing 17-1 at the close. Was this lead too big to claw back?
